Product Description
Gold Century Underwater metal detector is a style with superb quality and performance. It's not only with high sensitivity but can distinguish the metal type also. It can help user to find the lost coins gold/silver jewelry and metal objects which can enable the users to have fun during operation. Motion detection has relatively low requirements on environment. Sensitivity adjustment function enables the detector easily adapted to different environment. Discrimination adjustment function enables the elimination of unwanted metal. Water-proof detector and headset enable the underwater detection. Water-proof to depth of 65 feet. OPERATION Clockwise rotate the "SENS" control to power on the detector. 1. "DISC" function By adjusting the Discrimination control you will be able to ignore small pieces of metallic trash while detecting valuable targets. Discrimination points are determined by such factors as size shape depth and type of metal and ground mineralization. Scatter some sample targets such as coins pull tabs and small pieces of foil on the ground 1 to 2 feet apart. (2) Turn the Sensitivity Control to clockwise full to set sensitivity to maximum. (3) Turn the Discrimination control to counterclockwise full. (4) Put the headset on and turn on the POWER. Hold the search coil about 2 inches above and parallel to the ground. Move it slowly over the samples and note the LED and Audio response as you pass over each one. Keep in mind that GC-1029 is a motion detector and responds only when the search coil is moving. (5) Turn the Discrimination Control clockwise to several points of the white region and again pass over the targets. Repeat this process at yellow region and so on to the red region. You will note that as you adjust the discrimination level GC-1029 will reject some targets and continue to respond to others. You can determine the discrimination points per your needs.

2 out of 5 stars DO NOT USE UNDERWATER!   October 8, 2009

This product worked fine... I would even say "great" UNTIL I took it underwater. Is says it will work up to depths of 65 feet, but put it even slightly underwater and it won't give a clear reading again (if at all).
I read the reviews for a similar (suspiciously similar) underwater metal detector that goes by a different name saying it didn't work underwater. I SOOOOO wanted this to work (because I lost my wedding ring in the ocean), I read all the directions followed all the tips, even tried changing the battery... NOTHING.
I made the mistake of assuming that since it says it "WILL work underwater" that it would.... but it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and pass this one up (and others that look like it). As much as you might want to believe it'll work, it won't.

Aqua Man Underwater Metal Detector Gold Century with underwater HeadsetI was not happy with the shipping situation, I paid extra b/c a holiday was coming up and a weekend, well I ended up paying extra and getting my order the same as how long standar would take. After requesting a refund for the extra shipping I was told NO and they hoped I understood their policy. I even offered to pay the standard shipping cost and they would not work with me at all on shipping.

Then after getting our metal detector we tried it out and it worked once before water, (mind you we followed the directions to a T) after water nothing it started making all kinds of weird noises and would not work, very disappointing.

The company has offered us a replacement or a full refund so that's good! Sadly to say, I guess this one is a bust.
